About Us

We began our love for Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats when we lived in Maine.  My husband was stationed in Brunswick, Maine (US Navy) and I was a new RN with four young sons.  Our daycare had a couple baby goats that caught my husband's eye and I began researching local breeders of Nigerian Dwarf goats.  Out of pure luck, my first goat friend in Maine was Cheryle Moore-Smith of Old Mountain Farm.  She introduced me to the breed and shared her knowledge while tempting me with her beautiful goats.  Moxie Blues Farm was the name of our Maine goat farm- in honor of the Moxie soda that they've been selling/making since the 1800's.  Attending goat shows in New England, I was honored to make more goat friends and witness some very influential Nigerian goats in the ring from farms such as Old Mountain Farm, Dawnland Farm, Dragonfly Farm, Rosasharn Farm, and Fairlea Farm.  When I left Maine in 2006, I was heartbroken to sell my herd and wasn't certain that I'd ever have the opportunity to own these amazing animals again.

Fast forward to the present in Columbia, MO- my sons are grown with two serving in the Navy and one in the Air Force!  In 2017, Dennis and I found 13 acres  with an old barn and a.pond to build our forever home on.  Of course, we both began planning our next herd of Nigerian Dwarf milk goats.  While drawing on old friendships in New England and establishing new ones in the Midwest, I feel blessed to get this second chance to delve into world of dairy goat farming.  

Our farm name is derived from Dennis' great great grandmother, "America Jewell".   You will find the Jewell Historic Cemetery on Providence Rd- next to the Waffle House!  When we moved to Missouri, we quite literally picked Columbia on a map.  After doing some ancestry research, I found that Dennis' great grandfather (5th generation) was the younger brother of George Jewell who founded the cemetery.  How many people can drive by the Jewell Historic Cemetery and say, "those are my family Jewells"!  :)   Great Great Grandma America Jewell is our connection between the Jewell and the Jordan family- and Kentucky and Missouri!  In her honor, our farm is so named.

Herd health is of utmost importance and, as such, we participate in annual whole herd CAE, CL, and Johnnes testing through Texax A&M University (accredited laboratory).  We only buy from herds who also test and quarantine to confirm tests before introduction to our herd.  We have put together a foundation herd that combines many of the best Nigerian Dwarf lines in the nation.  We feel blessed to have this opportunity and hope to be good stewards of our herd and of the breed.
